Fire Damages Goffstown Home, Leaves Property Uninhabitable


GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – A fire at 15 College Road on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, has left the residence uninhabitable, according to the Goffstown Fire Department.


Fire crews were dispatched at 3:07 p.m. after reports of heavy smoke in the area of Mast Road and College Road. The Goffstown Fire Department, assisted by mutual aid companies from Manchester, Bedford, Hooksett, Litchfield, and Weare, arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the rear of the building, with occupants evacuating.


Residents informed firefighters that the fire originated in the basement, and all occupants had safely self-evacuated. Fire crews deployed hose lines to attack the fire and conduct primary search and rescue operations. The fire was quickly knocked down, and firefighters successfully rescued two cats from the home. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.


Damage and Investigation

Fire damage was contained to the basement and first floor, but smoke and water damage affected the entire structure. Due to the extent of the damage, Health and Building Code Officials have deemed the property uninhabitable, and entry is prohibited.


An investigation was conducted, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined. The Goffstown Fire Department is reminding residents to properly discard smoking materials and use portable heating devices according to manufacturer recommendations to help prevent similar incidents.


At this time, a damage estimate has not been provided.
